First of all, we know that the search for greater supercomputing performance is something that is always in motion. In reality, the definition of a supercomputer is basically any machine that uses the highest operating rate to function. Therefore, there is a constant battle to always improve. So, find out which the fastest computer in the world.

Therefore, those who reach this level need to take advantage and be ready to innovate. Well, it's something temporary. However, what makes the medium of supercomputing exciting is precisely the competition. Therefore, the quest to reach unimaginable heights is continuous and incessant.

Therefore, there are currently several supercomputers capable of offering the fastest technologies. As a result, many processes are optimized. Furthermore, this immense competition between countries ended up boosting greater visibility to processing power. On top of that, these supercomputers are being used for many projects. And, apparently, it is a competition that will only increase and only tend to bring improvements.

Meet Fugaku: The Japanese Supercomputer.

In first place in this ranking of supercomputers is Fugaku from Japan. It was created through a partnership between RIKEN and Fujitsu. In this sense, it is the most current and fastest supercomputer, ranking first worldwide. However, Japan has not had a system that ranked first since 2011. This year, the first place was the K computer, Fugaku's predecessor.

Furthermore, Fugaku is the pioneering high-end system powered by ARM processors. In addition to everything, it has two other new features, firstly the computer has hybrid memory cubes in each of the processors. And, it also has a new Tofu iteration of the network that allows full integration between system nodes.

Finally, supercomputers also have an architecture according to ARM. This indicates a dramatic change in the way computing is common on supercomputers. What's more, its designers see the machine's success as an indication that there is still room for innovation in HPC.

Summit: The Most Powerful Supercomputer.

The Summit system emerged through the renewed commitment of the United States Department of Energy and the power of supercomputing. Furthermore, the system secured the renowned first place in 2018, taking China's place for the first time for 6 years.

Therefore, for the first time on the June 2018 list, Summit invested in improving the initial performance of its HPL, going from 122.3 to the current 148.6. Furthermore, as it is an exceptional machine with high performance, the Summit also ended up taking third place in the GreenTop500. Therefore, the list measures the energy efficiency of supercomputers. However, it subsequently fell to ninth position.

Furthermore, seven members of an ORNL team won the Gordon Bell Award in 2018. This was due to the fact that they implemented Summit to process genetic data to find out why individuals experience chronic pain.

Sierra: New Supercomputer from the USA.

However, unfortunately, with the arrival of another number one in June 2020, it placed Sierra back in third place. In fact, Sierra was intentionally created for critical modeling and simulations for the National Nuclear Security Administration in the US.

Concluding.

Atualmente, um supercomputador é uma máquina que conta com um poder de processamento, milhares de vezes superior ao de um computador convencional, por exemplo. Portanto, é utilizado com tecnologia de ponta e possui uma alta capacidade de memória.

However, if you were looking to know which is the fastest computer in the world, here is all this information. We hope we helped! However, if you, like us, are a technology enthusiast, leave us a comment with your thoughts.
